And still no Apple Store in Brooklyn, NY where there's probably a lot more people that own Apple products than Brisbane.
How big is Brooklyn, and how big is Queensland?

I remember when Ryan Block left Engadget and people were saying similar things, wondering about Engadget's future. Josh eventually grew into the role and now he's leaving. While it's sad to see him go, I'm sure someone else will eventually fill the spotlight.
But did three of the top contributors leave with him? I think the fear is that both Miller's, Nilay and Josh left within a few months. Usually when you have an exodus by senior staff that isn't a good sign. Plus their posts are getting more and more snarky ala Gizmodo which is why I don't read Giz.

You know what the problem probably is? That Jobs is focused on the intel macs, and just wanted to get the powerpc team to get the powerbook out without wasting too much time on old tech. ;) I just suspect that they were rushed and weren't given much attention by Jobs. He didn't even attend their launch.

Not sure where to post this but this is quite interesting. Here (http://replay.waybackmachine.org/19970715132101/http://www.apple.com/companystore/more.html) is what the company store website looked back in 1997.

Are Publishers' Clearing House ads illegal on antenna television? No! Are porn ads? Yes! What is different about the app store. Sweepstakes does not equate to gambling, and even if it did, it's not as bad as porn.

I resetup my iphone from scratch without restoring my backed up data in itunes. Is it possible to recover just the photos from my backup without restoring the backup?
no, you have to restore the backup then take the photos from it

You need to put a colon before "Category", for example:
[[:Category:XYZ]]
Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks.

I only just got the Wii. :( Should I have listened to IGN when they kept claiming the Wii is dead?
Don't wory just wait till 2017 to get the Wii HD and you can gripe about how your too late to the party again ;) :) j/k
I posted this over on eurogamer earlier...
Hardly a surprise. Let's just hope that they decide to go back to the routes and devise a console that has software support for gamers.
Whilst the Wii has sold phenomenally well hardware wise; bar a very small selection of great games - software has been for the most part, an utter diatribe of games targeted seemingly at your grandma (except your gran has no interest in playing them either).
I will be very cautious of gimmicks this time round and want to see some proper games from not only Nintendo, but other third parties too before purchasing the new console.
And let's hope it has better launch titles than the poor old 3DS which is lacking anything of real significance at its launch.
Nintendo need to impress. And by that I do not mean show us a sneak screen shot of Mario or Zelda at E3 on project cafe and then tell us they will be launching 2014-2015, leaving us with 'even more brain age' , 'nintendogs cafe' and 'Mario gardening' as the main first party titles to tide us over for a couple of years..

Honestly, given the current prices of the entry-level Macbook Pro.. the need for a Macbook is not necessary.. Just look at how powerful the entry-level Macbook Pro is and its only like 150.00 more than the MacBook.. Not worth it, I think Apple should dump the Macbook and just use Macbook pros.
150 is alot for some and many don't ned a mbp......

my setup...
Firewire Video Camera
1ghz Powerbook G4 with 1gb RAM
5mbs cable connection
theirs...
USB IceCam from macally
1.33ghz Powerbook G4 with 512mb RAM
7mbs cable connection
its so choppy, 2fps at most. im not expecting 30, but a little more than 2. am i doing something wrong? are there other AIM clients with better video support?
-rozwell
have you and your buddy put the bandwith limit of iChat to "None" found in iChat preferences Video section. ? That may be part of the problem.

HOLY CRAP!!!!
Ordered Wednesday - received today!!! Just got back from a meeting an it was waiting on my desk!
Opened up the brown shipping box, already thinking " wow the new box must be small", but on opening the actual iPod box was within another box!
The new box is tiny (due to the lack of power adapter  ) - it must be around a third of the size to the old box - 16cm x 16cm x 6cm. Remove the sleeve and you're greeted by the typical Apple clamshell packaging, the inner of the top section holding the headphones, USB2 cable and beltclip - the bottom (under the mini)holding the manuals etc. If anyone is bothered I may put up some pics when I get home...
I ended up going for the silver, and to my eyes it does look slightly darker than my current mini. I'll check when I get home if this is true before it goes off to its new owner.
Not sure if this is new, but there are operating instructions actually on the clear wrapping plastic surrounding the mini itself - I don't remember seeing them on my other iPods....
I'll be doing some real world testing on it tonight after I've given it a full charge and see how long the battery does last for....
I'm still amazed at the speed of this delivery! Nice one Apple!
Update: Just got home, and the new box is just over half as big as the old box, and the instructions are in fact on the back of the old mini wrapper too.... strange I've never noticed! The colours are identical - not really that surprising for the silver I suppose! The only obvious difference is the inclusion of the 6GB sign on the back of tne new mini...

$50 !! Are they crazy. There's no way I'm going to pay $50 for this apps. And the people that pay $50 for it are probably .................... just curious. :D
update: I change my mind. I could see how this apps would benefit me. with this apps, I don't have to be on the computer all the time. just open this app and its like a tutor. I hope it can help me with Calculus 4 and Statistic. and I hope they meant $4.99 instead of $49.99
It must have been a typo, right Wolfram?
Oh, if it could also help with coding and english grammar, that would really convince me that it is worth $50.
update II: now I understand why it's $50.

sorry, what's a "5k"
It says in my very first post. A 5K is a refurbished model at Apple.
However, in my opinion, refurbs were better than new for the 2G, 3G, and 3GS but that is not the case with the 4.

Time Machine is not the best fit for your needs. Time Machine will let you tell it what you don't want it to back up, not what you do. In other words, you can't tell it to just back up your Music folder +1. Apple used to offer an application known as Backup which kind of does what you want, but its only available to MobileMe members at this point. You should also see whether the manufacturer of the hard drive offers a utility on the drive itself that allows you to schedule backups of a particularly folder. Someone else may be able to recommend other software for you to try.

On the topic of Apple Store from 1997, does anyone have archives of old on-line www.apple.com from the years 1999-2004? I am interested in seeing those PowerPC ads from the last 10 years.. I know there is an archive of older www.apple.com websites showing the PowerMacs, PowerBooks, etc..
